Peter’s Village, Kent

Trenport Investments commissioned a new public sculpture by Mark Maxwell at the focal roundabout entrance to Peter’s Village, Kent, a new residential development of 900 homes in Kent.

“The Gateway”, a five metre high sculpture designed by Mark Maxwell was created from Corten steel is located at the main entrance to the village on the roundabout. A series of workshops in collaboration with the nearby communities identified and explored locally significant themes such as the industrial heritage of the site as the former Peters Cement factory (which in its heyday exported cement across Europe), ecological, historic and archaeological importance.
